What is the best action we can take to save the world from the immenient apocalypse?

Nothing, pretty much.
I mean, there’s plenty of ideas, but in effect, none of them will ever happen.
The good news is, however, that the people, causing the situation in the first place, the ultra-rich, most likely have a concrete plan to solve the issue once and for all, in my humble opinion.
See, the problem with the Near Term Human Extinction, as some like to call our time and situation, is based on the simple premise, that financial growth must be upheld at all times and at all costs.
Growth is basically an economical term explaining, that there, in each and every single year, must be a higher production and consumption, than the year before.
It is essential.
If we don’t have financial growth, which basically - because money, in essence, is nothing but the symbol of labor, and nature’s resources traded and refined - translates into a concrete and constantly increased pressure on Mother Earth Herself, we will have recession, and - because of this dynamic in economy - a halted society, ranging from limped, to severely crippled, or in a state of outright anarchy.
In short, to have what we got, we must abide by this need.
So, because we don’t have either a world-government, being able to make these decisions for us, or a sane alternative to democracy, there’s not a leader on the planet, who has either the will, the pull or the desire to make their voter’s suffer immensely, just to preserve unborn children, who, sadly, isn’t represented in our system in the first place.
Basically, because of the need of growth, the whole planet will go barren, and soon at it (Source: “The Commission of World Economy and Climate”, an organ under the United Nations, stating, in their report from April 2019, that if we don’t severely reduce CO2 emissions before 2030, the result will be a planet covered in desserts and acidic oceans, and nothing else. Insects will quite possibly be the biggest inhabitants, otherwise we’ll be looking at bacteria as the dominating species).
In essence; we are, in lieu of our situation, presented with an ultimatum, best phrased like: “It’s most of us, now. Or all of us later”.
If we are to reduce the pressure on Mother Earth - and disregarding the options of Utopia, which, even though right in front of us, won’t be allowed by the people, truly, ruling the world (in that, if they were to give us our lives, freedom and futures, it’d mean the end of their rule of power) - we are left with one of two courses of actions.
1. We totally ignore the forecast, as a species, societies and cultures and “Let happen what will happen”, which will result in a “complete reboot of the entire planet”, where everyone and everything dies.
2. Or, “Someone” takes the harder call, and kills off about 90–98% of us, indirectly resulting in emissions and pressure on the eco-systems falling way under acceptable levels, ultimately leaving both a large strain of our species alive, as well as a planet for them to live on.
Seeing as no sane person - and the people making this call are, indeed, sane, but also very evil, by the definition of the term - would allow for basically all life to end, I, personally, believe, there’s a “contingency plan”, which have been rolled up over the course of decades.
Let me explain.
The basic situation is as stated in the ultimatum, which, in all its horror, is both definite and real: either most of us dies, now, or we wait, and everyone and everything dies later.
In short, there’s no choice.
So, how are they going to do it (And why hasn’t it happened sooner)?
The answer is simple, technology.
First realizing this is our scenario, and while contemplating the direness and the horror of the situation, I speculated in the idea, that they’d use a strain of airborne virus, with a definite mortality-rate of a 100%. - Viruses like these exists in a broad variety, and research and purification of strains have been going on for decades in military departments; it, at a glance, seems like a sane choice.
It is, however, not.
The problem with a virus like that is, that it’d survive, which basically means, that even though you, as distributer of such a vira, would hold the vaccine to it - giving it to yourself, and those you’d want to survive - the virus would, most likely, prevail in nature indefinitely, meaning, that every single child born from the moment you release it, would need the vaccine too, for all time ahead. - It’s simply not optimal. Plus, the damned thing mutates, rendering the vaccine useless over a long enough time frame.
So, Viruses are not the option. Neither are nukes (They screw up the world ever so much; radiation, dust, corpses rotting over the whole world breeding bacteria and disease, and you have only limited control over who snuffs it), not an option. Conventional methods are also right out. - Even though you control an army like the Forces of The US, people are moist: once you’ve been given the order to execute 90–98% of your country’s citizens, along with the most of the rest of the world with them, you become unreliable; a lot of soldiers would outright disobey any such order, and mutiny would mess up the process within days. Not an option.
So, how are they gonna do this?
The answer is simple; robots.
Hercules sized drones in countless numbers, unmanned, taking orders from an array of satellite-connected links, with a team placed somewhere in the world initiating the operation, filled with millions, in each of these carriers, of small drones (Probably the size of your average Zippo lighter) with a few, but essential, traits to each: solar-paneled wings or propellers, a rechargeable battery, a small flight and guidance computer, WiFi-system for communication, a small camera for facial recognition, and a small explosive charge.
On the day of the operation, these Hercules sized drones leaves the fields, hangars and factories where they’re placed and produced, spreading across the world entire.
Over every country and in each city, they deliver their cargo of drones, which then swarms their designated areas like “predator bee’s”, scanning for people who has long been pre-categorized with the decision for each and every living person: “In”, or “out”.
If you’re in, my guess is the following will happen:
Where ever you are on that day, you will see these drones appearing, and at least one of them will hoover briefly in front you, scanning your face and running the information through it’s servers, receiving a “Good” confirmation, after which the drone will leave pretty much as soon as it had arrived.
However, if you are NOT in the club, the same scenario will take place, but instead of flying off, one, or several of them, will swarm your skull, and, either as a single unit, or several of them, will explode, leaving a hole where your head was, solving the problem with you.
This scenario will take place about 7.5 billion times, ultimately making sure, that humanity has a planet to live on.
It’s not pretty, but compared to the alternative, it is, sadly, the best course of action, regardless how many “blowheads” might disagree with it.
“So.. Why haven’t they done it yet?”
The answer is simple; technology. They are almost there, but it’ll be a little while longer before they can complete the mission within the acceptable room for errors. Once the system is safe enough to make sure, that no one, who shouldn’t be, ends up a “Blowhead”, yearh, then they’ll probably roll it out.
If they don’t, we’ll all die, so we better hope they giddy up.
